Lesotho will take on Ethiopia in the first round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers for the Africa zone.
According to the draw, the first leg will be played on September 2 and the return leg on September 10, 2019.
The draw was held at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt on Tuesday.
The last official meeting between Lesotho and Ethiopia was a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier that ended in a 2-1 victory for the Ethiopians, with all three goals truly spectacular strikes.
The 14 winners in the first round will join the continent’s top 26 teams, who were all given first-round byes based on the July world rankings, to form the group of 40 sides that will contest the second round.
The 10 section winners advance to playoffs, which will decide the five qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal and Tunisia represented Africa at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and none of them made it past the first round. NW
