By Staff Writers

The All Basotho Convention (ABC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Koro-Koro constituency Motebang Koma has filed a motion of no confidence in the Prime Minister Thomas Thabane.

In the notice, a copy of which The Night’s Watch has seen, Koma stated that “we hereby move a motion that this house has no confidence in the government of the Kingdom of Lesotho led by the Right Honorable Prime Minister Thomas Thabane”.

“And this honorable House begs leave to urge His Majesty the King to appoint Honorable Samuel Tsoinyane Rapapa a member for Mosalemane constituency as the next Prime Minister,” added Koma.

Koma’s motion was seconded by MP for Qalabane, Motlalentoa Letsosa, who is also deputy leader of the main opposition Democratic Congress (DC).
Letsosa confirmed this on Wednesday. “The motion of NO confidence in the PM and his government is filed today,” he said on Twitter.

The Constitution states that: “If the National Assembly passes a resolution of no confidence in the Government of Lesotho and the Prime Minister does not within three days thereafter either resign or advise a dissolution the King may, acting in accordance with the advice of the Council of State, dissolve Parliament.” NW
